We would like to thank all our campers who came out to learn some new skills, refine some existing skills, and have some fun. Your participation made the Bayern Camp a huge succcess.

Bayern Munich Soccer Club took the U10 Blitz, U12 Pumas, U13 Intensity, and U18 Bayern to the Kansas Governor’s Cup on October 24th and 25th in Topeka, KS. The U10 Blitz, U12 Pumas, and U13 Intensity each left Topeka with a championship trophy. Bayern U18 team held their own but personnel shortages in the midst of this particular flu season created odds which were hard for them to overcome. This tournament was really special, not just because each team won, but each team overcame some strange twist during tournament play. A fan commented, “You guys must be doing something right.” We would like to think so. The Bayern emphasis on skills, tactics, and team play are the core of what we believe is the “something right.” Congratulations, Bayern Munich teams! Keep up the good work.
Bayern Munich Soccer Camp capped off Wednesday evening with a speed shot drill to see how fast a proper shot travels. The station proved to be a favorite among the girls as they worked on improving their personal best. Congratulations to our record setters!
Late Wednesday night, the Bayern Munich Soccer fields were vandalized by someone who tore through the fence and cut donuts across the fields leaving deep grooves in the field. At 8:00 am Saturday morning, the Bayern rally began. Bayern Parents had secured sponsors, dirt, replacement fence, a tractor, barbeque grill, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, refreshments, grass seed, tools, about 120 hands and a commitment that the Bayern fields would be restored. By 2:00 pm, the fields had been restored, the fence repaired, and a couple enhancements completed. Bayern member involvement proved once again why Bayern parents and athletes are so special. The pictures don’t tell the whole story but they are fun to look at! Thank You Bayern Munich Members! Your efforts were absolutely incredible. Special thanks to Petco, Price Chopper, and Dollar General who generously provided support to our efforts.

The Bayern Campers brought it on for the first night of Bayern Soccer Camp. It was a beautiful night shared by over one hundred campers. Bayern Campers moved from station to station refining their shooting, passing, and tactical skills. Tonight, new stations will be added with some additional foot skill and ball control emphasis. If you missed last night, don't be shy. Come on out and have a blast!

On September 17th, Bayern Munich rolled into Iowa to participate in the Just For Girls Fall Invitational with the U11 Blitz, U12 Pumas, U13 Pumas, and the U14 Intensity teams. Every team overcame stiff competition, cold, rain, weather delays, and PK games to advance to the finals. Every team proved their worth in the finals.
On occassion, we receive a reminder from an alum that we are more than just a soccer club. Below is a note we received from the family of Anna White, senior at University of Nebraska, who made a major contribution to the Husker soccer team for 4 years:
I just want to say Thank You to KC Bayern Munich and Jim Werner and all the coaches from the past to the present. My daughter, Anna White, will graduate in May after playing for four years at the University of Nebraska/Lincoln. She would not have had the opportunity without the help and recruitment opportunities presented by KC Bayern Munich. In fact, to this day the Nebraska Head Coach, John Walker, will say it was Marcus Kelcher, Anna's Bayern Munich Coach at the time, who encouraged him to look at Anna and recruit her. She lettered all four years and because of the competition she faced and how she developed through Bayern Munich she was able to start most games (in between injuries) at Nebraska. Not only was KC Bayern Munich a great soccer experience, I knew that the moral standards were very high for this team as well. Since many tournaments played on Sunday and it was difficult to get to church, several players would get together with some of the coaches and leaders and offer a Bible Study for whoever was interested. No one felt any pressure but the opportunity was there....Thank you once again.... There is not a team that I know of that has a person like Jim Werner who invests so much into their club.....Thank you and God bless you....
Laura White
As Anna prepares for her future beyond the University of Nebraska, we would like to wish her the best of luck. She was truly a fantastic competitor for Bayern Munich and her success at the University of Nebraska re-affirms that our development program works.

Thanks to all the 2009 Bayern Campers who braved the weather and provded a great camp experience for all participants. We look forward to providing you with an even better experience in 2010 as we have added additional stations and coaches!
The recent EF5 tornado at Joplin, MO completely disrupted the lives of many of the residents, leaving them homeless and facing many months recovery, if ever. Bayern Munich Soccer Club reached out in the only way we know how and that was to ask Midwest Select Soccer Club in Joplin what we could do to help. They simply said they would appreciate any soccer gear they could get so they could distribute it out to their unfortunate club members who lost everything. Bayern Munich will be setting up boxes at our Summer Soccer Camp on June 6th, 7th, and 8th to accept new and gently used soccer equipment from our campers. Bayern will also accept monetary donations to aid in shipping and towards rebuilding projects for their club. Bayern has probably never served a more worthy cause. Thanks for your support.
